Swindon receives an average of 1,350 peak sun hours per year, placing it comfortably in the productive range for residential solar in the UK. A 4kW south-facing system on a typical semi-detached home here generates around 3,400 kWh annually, covering roughly 80% of average household electricity demand. With 0% VAT on residential installations and the Smart Export Guarantee paying for surplus energy exported to the grid, the financial case for solar in Swindon has never been stronger.

Our Installation Process

Most installations take one to two days. We start by erecting scaffolding, usually the day before or first thing in the morning, so the roof can be accessed safely. The team then fits the roof anchors and mounting rails, lays the panels, and weatherproofs every fixing. While that happens on the roof, an electrician runs the cabling to your inverter and connects it to your consumer unit. You do not need to do anything special with pets or children, though it helps to keep the loft and the area around your fuse board clear. There is some drilling and footfall on the roof, but disruption inside the home is minimal. Light rain rarely stops work; heavy rain or high winds can push the roof stage back a day for safety, and we will always let you know in advance. We finish by testing the system, setting up your monitoring app, and walking you through how everything works before we leave.

Scaffolding

We erect scaffolding for safe roof access, usually the day before or first thing on day one. We need clear access to the relevant elevation and a few metres of ground space.

Panel mounting

We fix roof anchors into the rafters, add weatherproof flashing, mount the rails, then clamp the panels securely in place.

Electrical work

We install the inverter, run the cabling to your consumer unit, fit the generation meter and isolators, and connect everything to current wiring regulations.

Commissioning

We test the full system, set up your monitoring app, register the install for MCS, and walk you through how it all works.
